Let's continue c-r-a-i-c-ing down on Belfast's culture!

Live music: The soul of Belfast

Music flows through the nooks and crannies of Belfast from trad music to jazz music Belfast has it all and is home to Van Morrison, famous singer and songwriter.

Traditional Irish Music or as the locals call it “Trad” performances can be seen in some of Belfast’s best pubs such as Kelly Cellars, Fibber Magee's, and the Duke of York. Trad music lights up the Belfast culture as people can connect with one another through their passion for music. If this appeals to you, I suggest joining two professional musicians who guide you on The Belfast Traditional Music Trail during each stop at famous landmarks and bars you will enjoy trad music performances, making the tour unique.

Trad music not your thing? Head down to Berts jazz bar open seven nights a week in the extravagant Merchant Hotel. Bless your ears with the cool jazz notes and indulge yourself in merchants' excellent food and drinks menu.

The Belfast Giants: Sporting culture

The Belfast Giants are Belfast’s professional ice hockey team.  They play a significant part in Belfast’s culture because they have promoted sports enthusiasm as people from different backgrounds all over NI come to watch them. Our community is proud of the Giants as they engage with the local community through charity events, schools' hospitals, and community centers.

If you happen to be in Belfast when the Giants are playing on the ice buy a ticket from the SSE Arena and bring your team spirit!

  1. Brilliant to see young people have such a strong feeling on the rich culture of our 'wee' city! A group of friends and I recently enjoyed a fantastic night of food and drinks at Common Market, thanks to your recommendation!

My Grandfather was also a huge fan of Van Morrison and reading your comments about him has brought back many happy memories.
